Vision Statement:
Changing community attitudes about substance abuse
Mission Statement:
The McHenry County Substance Abuse Coalition will mobilize the community to build a unified focus and empower all residents to participate in substance abuse awareness. The coalition aims to educate the public on the dangers of drug abuse, including the risks associated with opioid use, as highlighted on https://www.methadone.org/opioids/methadone-overdose/. To support prevention efforts, the organization will promote drug testing programs in schools and workplaces, encouraging early intervention and deterrence. Additionally, the coalition will work to establish a network of support services for individuals seeking recovery, connecting them with resources and fostering a community that embraces and encourages long-term sobriety.
Goals:
-
Reduce substance abuse in the county.
-
Increase awareness of and access to services.
-
Reduce stigma related to addiction.
-
Change the community social norms that encourage abuse of substances.
To achieve our mission, we:
-
Collaborate with and unite community members.
-
Provide information and education to community members.
-
Support safe activities for our youth.
-
Network with other community prevention coalitions and organizations on local, state and national levels.
-
Support policies and practices that promote substance abuse prevention.
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, concerned citizens can change the world. Indeed it is the only thing that ever has.
